Hi, I’m Karen
Founder of Daring to Rest, author of the Sounds True book Daring to Rest: Reclaim Your Power with Yoga Nidra Meditation, and your guide throughout this program.
I’ve devoted my life to helping women reclaim rest as a path to power.
Since 2008 - long before rest was trending - I’ve supported thousands of women to awaken from burnout and live more fully in their bodies, their truth, and their purpose. I’ve trained over 500 women worldwide to become rest leaders through the deep rest practice of yoga nidra and now rest coaching.
When I started this work, rest was often met with eye rolls or laughter. But today, the world is waking up. More and more people are sensing that the pace of our culture is unsustainable. That hustle is a path to burnout. That something has to change - and rest is the remedy and the beginning.
When I published Daring to Rest, my focus was on the power of yoga nidra to restore women’s energy and help them rise. But over time, women kept asked me after a deep rest experience, “What now?” I realized something essential: women need more than a rest practice - they also need guidance to live a rested life. They need a pathway - and they need guides.
So I returned to a framework I had once taught to new mothers and birth professionals - a three-part journey to connect with your body, reclaim your voice, and take aligned action. When layered with rest, this became The Rested Path™ - Rested Body, Rested Voice, Rested Action - a powerful map not only for healing, but for leading people to their most rested selves.
That’s why I created the Daring to Rest Coach Program: To support women like you to walk The Rested Path for yourself - and then learn to guide others with courage, clarity, and heart.

I’m a mother of two young adult sons raised on rest.
I’m a rest coach, meditation and yoga nidra teacher, and former community organizer.
I’m devoted to creating a world where people are deeply rested and radically empowered - especially women who have long-held threads of exhaustion in our history and ancestry.
I believe rest is a sacred act of rebellion. I believe it is important to name systems of oppression that are invested in our exhaustion - that this calms the nervous system. And I believe that rest coaching - helping people find a more rested way to be in the world — has the power to transform lives and culture.

The Rested Path™ is the framework at the heart of the Daring to Rest Coach Training. It’s a process you’ll learn to guide clients - and yourself - into rest that transforms how people live their life, not just temporarily soothes. From nervous system healing to ancestral repair, this pathway offers sustainable, embodied tools to create a truly rested life.
Some Daring to Rest Coaches use the full framework in their work, while others weave pieces of it into their existing offerings - or simply into the way they live.

Intro to The Rested Path
Meet your Rest Sisters in the program and be introduced to The Rested Path framework.
Part 1: Rested Body
Reclaim - Rediscover your innate right to rest by letting go of the myths that equate your worth with constant productivity.
Feel - Welcome the full spectrum of your emotions, even the contradictory ones, as a path to deeper rest and emotional spaciousness.
Listen - Learn to trust your body’s wisdom as a source of truth and insight, uncovering unexpected clarity in stillness.
Unhook - Loosen your grip on hustle culture by reclaiming your personal story — one not defined by exhaustion, but by presence.
Part 2: Rested Voice
Attune - Notice the subtle tone of rest already present in your life, and let it guide you toward what truly matters.
Liberate - Release inherited patterns of ancestral exhaustion and reclaim your right to thrive beyond survival.
Unbind - Let go of unconscious loyalty to maternal burnout and learn to mother yourself with tenderness, presence, and rest.

You will have the opportunity to become a certified Daring to Rest Coach upon completion of the program, for no extra fee. The following are the requirements to be certified:
Attend live or watch the recordings of all live sessions.
Listen to (or read the transcript) for all teaching audios.
Complete reflection questions from each lesson.
Teach: three short Rested Path experiences (for example, three coaching sessions or group classes using Rested Body, Rested Voice & Rested Action) OR teach a 3-day (or longer) Rested Path program. You must teach all three parts of the Rested Path. Submit a one page reflection on each experience.

While everyone learns differently, the average time you can expect to give per week is 5-7 hours. This includes the weekly live session and rest time.

Live attendance is not required. We have trained many women who, due to their schedule, cannot attend live. Every session is recorded and available within 24 hours. (And often earlier). While live attendance definitely enhances your experience, we know life (and time zones) happens. If you are joining live, classes will be at 10am MT on Tuesdays for 3 hours.

Once completed, you can call yourself a certified Daring to Rest Coach which means we endorse you as a teacher of The Rested Path teachings, and you’ll be listed on our website as a Daring to Rest Coach.

You will not learn how to teach yoga nidra in the Daring to Rest Coach Training Program.
We believe a yoga nidra teacher training needs to be a training on it’s own because yoga nidra is a practice that needs to be felt in your bones before teaching it - and this happens over time. (We train women how to teach yoga nidra in a 5-month Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra Facilitator Training).
While The Daring to Rest Coach Training Program includes learning how to teach several physical relaxation practices, the focus is primarily on teaching you The Rested Path framework with dozens of tools to help people sculpt a rested life - physical, mental, emotional, ancestral, etc.

While rest teachers are ideal for this training (ie, breathwork, yoga nidra, meditation, restorative, and yin teachers), you do not have to be a rest teacher to join.
This training is ideal for any woman who wants to become a rest coach, learn The Rested Path, or feels called to the training for the advanced rest teachings.

This program is not a coach certification program. We do not teach core coaching competencies.
It is ideal as an additional training to a coaching or other professional training OR as a stand alone training for women who want to know The Rested Path framework and teach practices in the toolkit.

No. This program is an exploration of the landscape of rest and how it applies to creating a rested life. Having said this, rest exploration can bring up emotions. We encourage anyone who needs therapeutic support to get it and upon request can provide a list of vetted professionals as a resource.
