You Become the Work Before You Share It

There comes a moment when another practice is no longer what you're searching for.

You've read the books. You've attended the trainings. You've gathered nervous system practices and knowledge that has changed you.

And yet, beneath everything you've learned, another question is whispering:

How do I actually live a rested life?

Not only when life is quiet. But in the middle of caregiving... building a business... leading others.

In the middle of an ordinary day.

You realize that what you're longing for isn't another relaxation practice.

You’re longing for a way of being. A calm frequency. A softer vibration at home and work.

A way of returning to yourself when life pulls you away.

A way of leading that doesn't ask you to sacrifice your own well-being in order to serve others.

A way of working that feels as nourishing as it is impactful.

Then another realization begins to emerge.

Perhaps the exhaustion you're carrying - and your clients too - isn't entirely your own.

Most women don't realize they're carrying more than their own exhaustion. They carry the pace, the vigilance, the overgiving, the urgency, and the beliefs handed down through generations of women. Women who were rarely invited to rest. Women who loved deeply, gave endlessly, and were shaped by a culture that measured their worth by how much they could hold.

Without realizing it, we inherit more than stories. We inherit ways of living. We inherit exhaustion.

The Rested Path helps you recognize what was never yours to carry, teaches you to lovingly lay down inherited exhaustion, and as you do, something remarkable begins to happen.

Your body softens. Your voice grows clearer. Your choices become more aligned with who you truly are. You stop living from urgency and begin aligning with what we call the tone of rest.

Little by little, the tone of rest becomes more familiar than the tone of urgency.

Rest becomes the tone from which you live.

And when that happens, your life and your work begin to change.

You listen differently. You show up in your household differently. You lead differently. You coach differently. You teach differently.

You become less interested in fixing people and more devoted to helping people remember how to find themselves, and by extension the tone of rest.

Once you begin to embody this for yourself, you can more confidently support people to recognize when they have drifted from this tone of rest, from themselves, and you have tools to help gently guide them back.

The people you serve feel it. Because you're becoming the work as you are sharing it.

Along the way, you'll gain something else: a clear, embodied pathway for helping people move from physical, cultural and inherited exhaustion to a rested life.

A path you can confidently weave into your coaching, retreats, workshops, programs or leadership. Or a path you can weave into new rest-centered work; the kind of work you want to move towards in this season of life.

This is the invitation of The Rested Path training program.

To get on a more Rested Path. And from that place, guide others to find their Rested Path, whether through your coaching, retreats, workshops, programs, or leadership.

Then the people you serve don't just experience a rest practice, or have more knowledge of their nervous system, but through you as their guide they learn how to return to the tone of rest and build a rested life they can come back to again and again.

“Our society offers a pill for this and that - being able to offer people a non-pharmaceutical prescription for a rested life is such a joy.
— Terri Scherer, Sisterhood 2

Why The Rested Path was Created

A letter from Karen

Dear Woman Who Wants to Be on a More Rested Path and Help Others Create a Rested Life,

For many years, I believed that if women developed a deep enough rest practice, it would naturally change the way they lived. In many ways, it did.

The deep transformational sleep practice of yoga nidra transformed my own life. And it transformed the lives of thousands of women I have had the privilege of teaching.

Again and again, I witnessed women reconnect with themselves through profoundly deep rest. They softened. They listened differently. They remembered who they were beneath the exhaustion. And I still believe deeply in the power of yoga nidra.

But over the last six years, as I walked beside my mother with Alzheimer's disease and became her primary caregiver, I discovered something I hadn't fully understood before.

When life became extraordinarily demanding, I didn't simply need a practice. I needed a path.

Caregiving became my rest PhD. Every day it asked something different of me. Some days there was grief. Some days there was tenderness. Some days there was guilt. Many days I felt what I now recognize as an ancient motherline kind of rage and exhaustion. I had to reckon with deeply unrested narratives in my childhood, especially how well, and not so well, I felt mothered. Some days there was beauty I never expected. There were moments when I felt deeply connected to myself, and there were moments when I lost my footing completely.

What carried me through wasn't the expectation that I would always feel rested. It was knowing there was a way back to a more rested path. It was remembering the tone of rest.

Again and again, I returned . I returned to my body through my rest practices when my mind was racing. I returned to my inner voice when fear grew louder than wisdom. I returned to the next rested choice I could make, even when it was a very small one.

Sometimes I felt firmly on what I now call The Rested Path. Sometimes I wandered far from it. But I always knew I could return. When I aligned my life with the tone of rest, even one percent, I returned to The Rested Path. This realization changed me. It also changed my work.

I began to understand that practices are essential. They help us enter a more rested state of being. But a practice alone is not enough to sustain us through every season of life.

We also need a path. A way of living. A trusted roadmap we can return to when life pulls us away from ourselves and into all the noise and unrest that come with a full life.

Every woman will encounter seasons that ask more of her than she imagined. Illness. Loss. Motherhood. Caregiving. Career transitions. Aging. Reinvention.

These moments are invitations to return. That is why I created The Rested Path. Not simply as something to learn. But as something to live. Because...

A practice is something you do.

A path is something you return to for the rest of your life.

My hope is that The Rested Path becomes that companion for you.

Not another framework you finish. But a path you walk and return to, again and again, for the rest of your life.

And as you walk The Rested Path, if you feel called, you help others find their Rested Path.

I get the rest chills seeing all the women who have taken The Rested Path program and are now sharing it in their own unique ways with others. Weaving it into their programs. Teaching it in retreat settings. Coaching others one-on-one and in groups.

Rested Path Guides imagine a world where every person learns to return to the tone of rest and walk their own Rested Path.

If you feel called to join Sisterhood 4 for this year’s Rested Path program, I’d love for you to join us starting in September.

Love & many rest hugs,

Karen

What you will learn

The Rested Path

Journey

An 11-week online immersion that supports you to live The Rested Path and weave it into your work, followed by an Integration Circle for continued reflection, connection, and support.

We start September 9.

The Rested Path is both a framework and a way of living.

The framework offers a roadmap through three interconnected layers: Rested Body, Rested Voice, and Rested Action. Within these layers are nine Rest Transmissions, each offering a different way to access and experience The Rested Path.

You’ll learn to share these transmissions with clarity, confidence, and care. You may weave all nine into your work or choose the ones that best support your clients.

As you embody The Rested Path, you’ll learn to recognize the tone of rest, trust it, and return to it again and again, until it quietly begins to shape how you love, lead, and live.

1

Rested Body

THREE Rest Transmissions for Recognizing the Tone of Rest in Your Body

Physical Relaxation
Learn to recognize the tone of rest through nature and your body's natural capacity to soften, settle, and deeply relax.

Your Body as an Oracle
Discover how your body becomes a trusted guide, revealing the wisdom that's already within you. You’ll learn our IN-Body Rest Coaching.

Re-Storying Your Life
Discover the story your body has been carrying about rest, then begin to embody a new rest story, one rooted in the tone of rest.

2

Rested Voice

Three Rest Transmissions for RELEASING INHERITED EXHAUSTION AND Returning to the Tone of Rest Within

Quiet, Silence & Solitude
Experience the power of silence and create the conditions to hear your own inner wisdom beneath the noise of everyday life.

Ancestral Exhaustion Contracts & Unburdening
Recognize what you've inherited, gently lay down what isn't yours to carry, and choose a new relationship with rest.

Inner Mothering
Cultivate a compassionate inner mother that frees you to be your rested self and helps to bring the tone of rest into the way you love, communicate, set boundaries, and show up with others.

3

Rested Action

Three Rest Transmissions for Living from the Tone of Rest

Imagination
Through breath, movement, and embodied practices you'll reconnect with your innate capacity to imagine and begin living the rested life that's calling you.

Rest Planning & Untangling from Urgency
Identify your unique rest rhythm and create choices and environments that make rest a way of life in your work and home.

Rest Prescriptions for a Rested Life
Create personalized Rest Prescriptions that help you return to the tone of rest in different seasons and circumstances. Learn how to guide others through this self-empowering process so they can trust their own knowing and discover their own ways back to rest.

This program was an invitation back to my self through deep rest. The program led me through a process of not just physically laying down- but laying down the layers of exhaustion, expectations and constant doing. For me, it was both a river and a bank. Sometimes I was standing on the shore, watching what rest makes possible for others as I practiced facilitation. Other times I was carried by the currents, immersed in rest’s healing truths.
— Tonya Clark, Sisterhood 2

Who This Is For

This training is for women who feel a rest rumble stirring inside them.

Perhaps you've experienced the power of deep rest and sense rest is more than this.

Perhaps you're longing to create a rested life that reflects what your heart desires.

Perhaps your work involves supporting others, and you want to offer people more than a few rest practices.

Many women who join us are coaches. Therapists. Yoga and meditation teachers. Wellness professionals. Educators. Community leaders.

You’re a woman who knows she is being called toward a more rested way of living. You might not be sure yet if you want to teach The Rested Path, you just know you want to experience it.

You don't need to have everything figured out.

You most certainly don't need to arrive already rested.

You only need a willingness to walk the path.

This training may not be right for you if… you're looking for a quick certification or another collection of rest techniques. You can become a certified Rested Path Guide, but this program asks something different. It asks you to let the work become part of your own life before offering it to someone else's.

After doing a few IN-Body Rest Coachings that I learned in this program a doorway opened for me and I knew how wonderfully The Rested Path helps neurodivergent teens. It is the missing part to my work I was always looking for.
— Steffi, Sisterhood 3

What Becomes Possible

Imagine waking up and trusting your body's wisdom.

Imagine making decisions from enoughness instead of urgency.

Imagine recognizing inherited exhaustion without acting as if you have to continue carrying it.

Imagine returning to your rested self more quickly when life pulls you away.

Imagine knowing that even in your hardest seasons, there is a path beneath your feet that brings you back to ease, joy, and softness.

Professionally, you'll leave with a living framework you can thoughtfully weave into coaching, therapy, yoga, retreats, healthcare, education, leadership, or offerings uniquely your own.

Personally, you'll learn to recognize the tone of rest within yourself and return to it again and again, until it becomes the place from which you live, shaping your relationships, your work, and the life you're here to create.

A Rest Invitation

We live in a world that celebrates pushing through.

Women have inherited generations of exhaustion, overgiving, urgency, and self-abandonment.

What if another way is possible?

And what if you could weave this path into the way you work with people?

The Rested Path isn't about staying on the path perfectly. It's about knowing how to return when life pulls you away. You’ll learn this for yourself, and be able to use what you learned to guide others.

If you feel called to embody a rested life and guide others into one, we would be honored to welcome you onto The Rested Path.

You'll walk it as part of Sisterhood 4.

After this training what became so beautifully clear to me as a women’s somatic leadership coach is how powerful working with The Rested Path is to help someone unwind their exhaustion story and identity and open up the space for a profound reset at identity level. What becomes possible when we no longer live within the closed narrative of being limited by our exhaustion or illness? When we allow ourselves to dream of a life that is golden?

About the Teacher

Karen Brody

18 Years.

500+ Women Rest Leaders.

Taught rest to over 15,000 women | Author of Daring to Rest, the only yoga nidra book for women | Host of the Daring to Rest Podcast | Mother of 2 young men raised on rest

The women I love working with most are passionate about rest. You’ve got a deep feeling that rest is the remedy we need right now, that it is the medicine you need, and you have clients who are exhausted and in urgent need of rest. You are searching for a rest direction, support to live and work with rest at the center, and you can never quite find the right community.

I get it. I built Daring to Rest from my personal passion to rest into a rest business that has helped women around the world be the first rested women in their lineage.

I have taught women to become yoga nidra teachers in the Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra Facilitator Training for nine years, and now in The Rested Path program my focus is to help you step into your rested power with more than a rest practice. Absolutely, we will rest our bodies. But I’ll also show you how to make rest a devotional path while also supporting you to weave what you’re learning into your work.

Having been raised in a profoundly unrested household, I am supremely dedicated to guiding others onto what I call The Rested Path, and supporting you to help the people you serve become the first in their lineage to be on a Rested Path too.

Let’s be on The Rested Path together.

This training embodies feminine leadership principles and walks the talk of it... space for things to emerge, flow, music, contemplation, rest-based, fostering intuition and truth telling...the list goes on. It is an exquisite creation and invitation to step into Rest Leadership and your own Rest Heroine.
— Charmaine, Breathworker, Retreat Leader, Sisterhood 3

The Rested Path exceeded my expectations. Before I took the program, I noticed a lot of my clients were unable to reach their health goals because they were exhausted and didn’t have capacity. Helping people to feel rested feels like it gets at the foundation of the problem. I am now creating a well-rested world one woman at a time.
— Hester Kohl Brooks, Sisterhood 1

Professionally, using the IN-Body Rest Coaching in this training taught me how powerful it is to slow down enough to feel into each layer of a person’s truth — beyond what’s said aloud. This tool is invaluable holding group retreats and coaching spaces that require safety, nuance, and trust.
— Natasha, Sisterhood 1

The Done-for-You Rest Program Templates were perfect for professionals like me to launch their work into the world. Shedding Ancestral Exhaustion was a deeply powerful process that led to personal breakthroughs. And I love Karen’s teaching - open, authentic, passionate, with a touch of rest glitter.
— Rebecca Tuma, Sisterhood 2

As a life coach, the IN-Body Rest Coaching technique has transformed how I support others finding the answers within themselves. It was the missing link for my coaching business. Mindset transformation often only gets people so far. The people I coach are not used to being in their bodies so - while mindset is a great place to begin - now I am using rest coaching techniques to encourage clients to learn how to communicate with their heart, body and soul.
— Pamela, Sisterhood 1

I loved that we went through The Rested Path personally doing the practices so we could get a sense of how this will be when others do it. It was so personally healing and helpful - I am excited to share it with others. I loved understanding and feeling the difference between finding my voice, and finding my rested voice. I loved learning about ancestral exhaustion contracts and rest altars. I love having physical things I can do to lead me to more healing, understanding, and rest.

I honestly loved it all! This training was so impactful.
— Mary Jameson, Sisterhood 1

Finding a community that speaks openly about rest as a necessity not a weakness, was very healing. I no longer feel the need to hide or to be ashamed of not fitting into systems that were never designed to support rested, embodied humans. This training became a missing puzzle piece in my spiritual growth, helping me peel back layers of conditioning and reconnect with who I truly am beneath them.

Professionally, this training affirmed something I have felt for a long time: that my path is to guide people towards rest. In my previous work in the corporate world, I was surrounded by chronic overwork, disconnection from the body and normalized exhaustion. It never felt right to me but I often doubted myself and wondered if I simply didn’t fit in. If something might be wrong with me. This training changed that narrative. It showed me that my sensitivity, my attunement to energy and my longing for a more humane pace are not flaws. They are gifts.
— JD, Sisterhood 2

The Rested Path program provides a pathway to first a rested body, which creates a more responsive instead of reactive voice which creates healthy rested decisions. It is a design for healthy living. On The Rested Path we are longer prisoners to the busyness of the grind culture.
— Terri Scherer, Sisterhood 2

If you feel called...

We asked our graduates to describe The Rested Path and here’s what they shared…

The Rested Path, covering the Rested Body, Rested Voice and Rested Action is a very rich rest framework that covers so many key areas such as working with ancestors, lineage, inner mothering and first and foremost really takes you on that journey so that you get to experience all the multi-facets so that if you choose to share with others you will know exactly what they are going through and how to hold space. Karen creates a very safe container, so this work is psychologically safe and there always is great support from the whole group of like-minded women.
— Beniafer, Sisterhood 2
This training is a journey into our own depth, and an invitation to facilitate this tender and empowering work in others. It’s a homecoming for women - a return to and remembering of who we are beneath the noise, busyness, all the doing and holding. It’s a permission slip to live the rested, golden life we yearn for and a reclamation of the Rested Woman who lives within each of us.
— Isabelle Griffith, Sisterhood 2
This program is a brilliantly designed and thoughtful led process of learning to lead yourself and others to live more of our lives on a rested path. The training is full of tools and rest opportunities. I imagine the experience is unique for each participant because so much of the training is experiential. It’s so beautiful to explore rest in community!
— Ali, Sisterhood 2
This program is a journey of reclamation: reclamation of your body and emotions, reclamation of your voice and power, reclamation of your life. This is a guided path towards reclamation of your right to live a rested life, filled with the perfect balance of practical tools and imaginative, dreamy spaciousness.
— Leilani Jefferies. Sisterhood 3
The Rest Rested Path program was the continuation of coming home to myself. Not the version of me who had to hustle or prove anything, but the one who’s already worthy.

As someone with ADHD who’s lived in survival mode for years, this training is helping me slow down, listen to my body, and trust rest as a powerful foundation. It’s changing how I show up—for myself, for my boudoir clients, and for other creatives with ADHD. I’m learning to lead from rest instead of burnout, and it’s reshaping everything.
— Natasha Kaufman, Sisterhood 2
The Rested Path was an immersion in living and learning what it feels like to truly lay down my armor and rest, and then wake-up to living rested, more and more, everyday. Learning alongside a sisterhood of women walking home to living rested together. Everyone coming from a different place, background, and leaving with a little piece of one another woven into each of us. Recognizing that no matter where we come from, how old we are and what we do for a living, we are all women dealing with the similarities of keeping up, grind and hustle culture, trying to be everything for everybody, and always feeling like it is never enough, we are never enough. Living this way for so long and repeating our ancestral lineage (and story) of what rest was like for those before us, wakes us up to releasing, letting go, the feelings of exhaustion and overwhelm. Finding the freedom and joy with the rhythms of nature and having tools, honing our skills and resources to practice and share with others who want to know what it feels like to live a rested life and still be productive and thrive without sacrificing ourselves in the process.

This training is so much more than rest, it is a journey, not just forward but to look back to see how far we’ve come and let go of past, limiting beliefs that keep us, as women, stuck in our exhaustion stories, helping us reclaim our voice (our new story) to take action and control of our life and be all that we are meant to be.
— Cathy Sullivan, Sisterhood 2
