Hi, I’m Karen
Founder of Daring to Rest, author of the Sounds True book Daring to Rest: Reclaim Your Power with Yoga Nidra Meditation, and your guide throughout this journey.
I’ve devoted my life to helping women reclaim rest as a path to power.
Since 2008 - long before rest was trending - I’ve supported thousands of women to awaken from burnout and live more fully in their bodies, their truth, and their purpose. I’ve trained over 500 women worldwide to become rest leaders through yoga nidra and now rest coaching.
When I started this work, rest was often met with eye rolls or laughter. But today, the world is waking up. More and more people are sensing that the pace of our culture is unsustainable. That hustle is a path to burnout. That something has to change - and rest is the remedy.
When I published Daring to Rest, my focus was on the power of yoga nidra to restore women’s energy and help them rise. But over time, I realized something essential: after deep rest, women need guidance to live the rested life they now feel called to live. They need a pathway - and they need guides.
So I returned to a framework I had once taught to new mothers and birth professionals — a three-part journey to connect with your body, reclaim your voice, and take aligned action. When layered with rest, this became The Rested Path™ - Rested Body, Rested Voice, Rested Action - a powerful map not only for healing, but for leading people to their most rested selves.
That’s why I created the Daring to Rest Coach Program: To support women like you to walk The Rested Path for yourself — and then guide others with courage, clarity, and heart.

I’m a mother of two young adult sons raised on rest.
I’m a rest coach, meditation and yoga nidra teacher, and former community organizer.
I’m devoted to creating a world where people are deeply rested and radically empowered - especially women who have deep threads of exhaustion in our history and ancestry.
I believe rest is a sacred act of rebellion. I believe systems of oppression are invested in our exhaustion. And I believe that rest — true, embodied rest — has the power to transform lives and culture.

How to Certify
You will have the opportunity to become a certified Daring to Rest Coach upon completion of the program, for no extra fee. The following are the requirements to be certified:
Attend live or watch the recordings of all live sessions.
Listen to (or read the transcript) for all teaching audios.
Complete reflection questions from each lesson.
Teach: three short Rested Path experiences (for example, three coaching sessions or group classes using Rested Body, Rested Voice & Rested Action) OR teach a 3-day (or longer) Rested Path program. You must teach all three parts of the Rested Path. Submit a one page reflection on each experience.

While everyone learns differently, the average time you can expect to give per week is 5-7 hours. This includes the weekly live session and rest time.

Live attendance is not required. We have trained many women who, due to their schedule, cannot attend live. Every session is recorded and available within 24 hours. While live attendance definitely enhances your experience, we know life (and time zones) happens. If you are joining live, classes will be at 10am MT on Tuesdays.

Your enrollment in the Rest Coach Training is a non-refundable/ non-opt out (of payment plans) investment.
If you withdraw at any time during the training program, full payment is still due, as once registration closes, we cannot give your spot to another student.
The only exception we make is: if you participate in the Rest Coach Training for one week (7 days), and if you do the work (daily yoga nidra, journaling & live Rest Practices & Coaching) and honestly feel the training is not a good fit, you can email us by September 26th to receive a full refund.
We do understand that personal and family emergencies can come up while you are enrolled that might prevent you from completing the training in the alloted 7.5 months you have access to the training. (The training is 6 weeks and then you have access for 6 more months). Requests for deferment are considered on a case by case basis. A deferment is available for one year without any additional fee.

At the end of this program, you’ll be given 6 months to complete certification requirements. Once completed, you can call yourself a certified Daring to Rest Coach which means we endorse you as a teacher of The Rested Path teachings, and you’ll be listed on our website as a Daring to Rest Coach.

You will not learn how to teach yoga nidra in the Daring to Rest Coach Program; you will learn to teach yoga nidra in our Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra Facilitator Training.
The Daring to Rest Coach Program teaches you The Rested Path framework with dozens of tools to help people sculpt a rested life; The Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra Facilitator Training only teaches you to how to lead yoga nidra.
Both trainings incorporate how to create rest programs; The Daring to Rest Coach Program offers you a much broader toolbox.
The Daring to Rest Coach Program focuses on how to sculpt a rested life and all the kinds of rest people need; The Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra Facilitator Training focuses on providing people with deep physical relaxation.

During the training, you can download and save all materials so that you can keep them forever. You’ll also have access to the course site for an additional six months after the course conclusion. The only content that is not downloadable is the bonus content.

No.
We know there are many coaches, facilitators, teachers and mentors who do not want to teach yoga nidra, but do want to offer group and one-on-one rest coaching.
No prior yoga nidra or rest experience is required to receive the benefits of this training. If you are curious about rest and new to working and living from a rest-paradigm, you are welcome.
This training is ideal for any heart-based entrepreneur who wants to become a rest coach.
You may have rest practices that you already have been trained in - like meditation, restorative yoga, or breathwork - or you may not have been trained in any rest practices. You’re looking for an approach to coaching people that is rest-based.

This training is not a coach certification program. Core competencies for coaching are not taught.
It is ideal as an additional training to a coaching or other professional training OR as a stand alone training for women who want to know The Rested Path framework and teach practices in the toolkit.

No. This program is an exploration of the landscape of rest and how it applies to creating a rested life. Having said this, rest exploration can bring up emotions. We encourage anyone who needs therapeutic support to get it and upon request can provide a list of vetted professionals as a resource.
