FAQS
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga nidra meditation is a guided sleep-based meditation also known as “The Sleep of the Yogi.” It is one of the deepest states of relaxation imaginable. At Daring to Rest, we called yoga nidra “rest medicine.” Go here to read more about the benefits.
When is the retreat?
August 27-30. You can check-in any time from 2pm onward on the 27th. We’ll end by noon on the 30th.
I’ve never practiced yoga nidra before - is this for beginners?
All levels of experience are welcome. Yoga nidra is easy to learn! We do encourage all women attending the retreat to have read Karen’s book, Daring to Rest, before the retreat.
Are all meals included?
Yes. You’ll receive breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Including commuters). The meals are vegan, but we can accommodate your food requirements with advanced notice. There is also a refrigerator that you can use to put any special food items you need.
How do I get to the Chi Center?
You can fly into Albuquerque or Santa Fe. (Most flights are cheaper to Albuquerque). From there, you can take a shuttle, Uber or Lift. You can also rent a car.
I can’t make it for all 4 days - can I still come?
Yes, but the price is the same.
Will there be internet?
Internet is only available in the main hall where we eat. You’ll be encouraged to unplug as much as possible while you’re on retreat.
I’ve practiced yoga nidra before, but not Daring to Rest. What’s the difference?
Daring to Rest is based on Karen Brody’s book, Daring to Rest: Reclaim Your Power with Yoga Nidra Rest Meditation. Our goal is to created a world of well-rested people and we think women are the ideal people to start learning yoga nidra because when women find medicine they like, they share it. Karen leads all three days of the Rest Cleanse.
Is this a yoga nidra teacher training?
No. Our yoga nidra teacher training is all online.
I’m a Daring to Rest facilitator. Are there any additional days for facilitators?
This year we’re not offering any official extra days for our facilitators. We will be organizing a hike and dinner on August 30th for all facilitators who would like to stay in the area.
