Dr. Roxanne S. Almas is a Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Her clinical approach centers the whole person, integrates family partnership, and honors the impact of trauma. Fluent in French, proficient in Spanish, and committed to equity, she brings cultural awareness and deep listening to her work.

Trained as both a Narrative Medicine facilitator and a Yoga Nidra facilitator through the Daring to Rest® program, Dr. Almas explores how stories and rest practices can support resilience and transformation in medicine.

During the pandemic, she co-chaired the Santa Clara County Medical Association’s physician wellness committee. Her writing on healing, grief, and clinician well-being appears in Bioethics Today and KevinMD.

Passionate about building a rest ethic in healthcare, she advocates for rest as a foundation for imagination, compassion, and sustainable care—core themes of her current work and presentations.

Outside the clinic, she enjoys writing, gardening with her family, and finding the sacred in the everyday.

Daring to Rest is Going inward.

“Daring to Rest is a strong community of rest warriors and healers.”
