This year our Daring to Rest 40-day journey is designed for women who are tired of effort - fixing, pushing, or forcing - and are longing for space to feel soft and create a softer way of being.
We’ve designed a 40 day journey for you to start the new year daring to rest deeply, listening, and gently receiving what’s already within you.
A live weekly 90-minute online gathering where we:
• Rest deeply with live Yoga Nidra - a deep transformational sleep practice
• Write from the quiet that follows
• Receive spacious time to be with what arises
There is nothing to “do.”
Rest is the teacher.
We’ll move slowly through six qualities of rest:
Week 1 — Settling
Week 2 — Softening
Week 3 — Sinking
Week 4 — Listening
Week 5 — Floating
Week 6 — Integrating
Each week opens a new doorway into the landscape of Soft.
The primary invitation is to dare to rest with yoga nidra and then write. If writing isn’t your thing, after resting you are welcome to daydream or work softly on any creative impulse.

All live online gatherings meet weekly for 90 minutes on Mondays at 10am Mountain Time
Each live gathering (except the closing circle) includes:

Throughout the 40 days, you’ll be guided by Karen Brody, founder of Daring to Rest, author of Daring to Rest, and a longtime teacher of Yoga Nidra for women. Karen’s work centers rest as medicine, leadership, and power - especially for women who have been carrying too much for too long.
Hi! I’m Karen — mother of two boys raised on rest, founder of Daring to Rest, author of Daring to Rest, and host of The Daring to Rest Podcast.
I’m a woman who learned how to rest the hard way.
After decades of panic attacks, burnout, and caring for everyone but myself, I discovered yoga nidra by accident—walking into a class where women were lying down, practicing the deep transformational rest of yoga nidra, and looking more nourished than I had felt in years. The practice of yoga nidra changed everything. My nervous system softened. My energy returned. I remembered who I was beneath the exhaustion.
A few years later, I got trained to teach yoga nidra and now nearly 20 years later, I’m still teaching yoga nidra and guiding women into deep rest. I’ve trained thousands of women to teach yoga nidra through the Daring to Rest Facilitator Program, and I continue to bring women together in rest sisterhood from all around the world—because resting with other women is powerful. It not only keeps you accountable to rest, when women rest together there is a healing transmission, whether you join us live or listen later. Rest becomes medicine.
The Daring to Rest 40-Day Program was the very first rest program I ever taught. It was born during a season of profound exhaustion while raising my children and living in a near-constant state of overwhelm. One night, sitting alone in my mini-van, I realized I didn’t need another strategy to feel more vibrant—I needed rest. I committed to forty days of daily yoga nidra.
In those forty days, everything shifted. My energy returned. My body healed. Joy came back. And my life changed.
I still teach this program once a year because I know what forty days of rest can do. Women heal their nervous systems, reconnect with their creativity, and remember who they are. They don’t just feel restored while they are lying down—they rise rested. A softening occurs… and their lives begin to soften too.
For forty days, I’ll be your rest guide—holding a spacious container for deep rest, writing, and your soft becoming.

Yoga Nidra, or "yogic sleep," is a guided meditation practice inducing deep relaxation between waking and sleeping, typically practiced by lying down (although you can sit or be in any position) and following instructions to relax the body and quiet the mind, promoting stress relief, better sleep, and enhanced awareness through techniques like body scans, breath awareness, and setting intentions. It has been said that 45 minutes of yoga nidra feels like 3 hours of sleep in your body! We cannot wait to introduce you to yoga nidra - it's the most supreme relaxation we know.
This is not just for writers. This is for any woman who wants time to rest deeply and then have soft space to write, daydream, or work on a creative project is welcome.

Absolutely. Newbie resters are welcome. All you do is lie down (or sit) and do nothing while listening to Karen's voice guide you into the state of yoga nidra. No experience is necessary.
We hope the payment plan we offer helps ease the financial impact, but if it's still not financially possible please reach out to us. We offer a sliding scale for any woman who feels called to attend this program.
Also, a great way to start Daring to Rest on your own is to get the book, Daring to Rest: Reclaim Your Power with Yoga Nidra Rest Meditation by Karen Brody. The book takes you through our 40-day program. Look for it at your local library or purchase it. Lots of women do the Daring to Rest 40-day program this way. The book comes with three free yoga nidras recorded by Karen.
The Daring to Rest Facilitator Training is a small intimate online professional certification program that trains you to teach yoga nidra. This 40-day program is the first phase in our facilitator training. So, if you know you want to take the training, we suggest you enroll directly in the training. Having said that, if you are new to Daring to Rest you might want to enroll in the 40-day program first and then decide whether our facilitator training is right for you. If you have questions, contact us.

Daring to Rest does not offer refunds for the 40 day Daring to Rest program. We try to be completely transparent on this enrollment page so you know what we are offering when you sign up.
